Welcome to Cameron's Website

13 years - 13 miles - $13 thousand

C an’t thank you enough. We raised over $6,900 for Progeria Research. I know it wasn’t my goal of $13,000, but we know every bit counts and it will help with finding a cure.

A we-inspired by everyone’s generosity. Yes, we knew we could count on our friends and family, but the outpouring from complete strangers was so touching. To the many people who forwarded the email and/or gave much more than $13, you’re the best.

M oved by people’s kind words, prayers for Cam and his family, and my race. Your messages, notes, and emails were priceless and so inspiring!

S urprised by how much fun the race was. I haven’t run in a race in a LONG time and Iforgot how cool it is to have a group of people together all trying to accomplish the same goal for their own reasons. It gives me chills just thinking about it.

R aised awareness (thanks Elizabeth!). Even if people didn’t contribute, we’re glad we were able to share what Progeria is and its impact on children. PRF has just started a campaign to find the additional 100 children who may be in the world with this disease.

U nending gratitude to Jason, Cam’s Dad and webmaster extraordinaire; Michelle and Katie for doing the long runs with me; Leslie and Laura, my regular running gals, who understood my absences; my kids – Peyton, Jordan, Mason, and Keaton, who are the best cheerleaders around; and Jay, my husband and best friend, and the most awesome PR person for this event (There wasn’t an email address that he had that he didn’t use!).

N ever imagined what this experience would mean to me. I knew it would be fun and hopefully a cool fundraiser. Most importantly, though, it reaffirmed for me the compassion we have for each other as human beings and how God is so present in all our lives. God bless you all!

We’ve made Cameron Howard proud – our hero!

With love and gratitude,

Jody Barish

Race Updates

Final Update: November 1

Wow! I did it! I ran my first half-marathon, complete with rain and winds, in 2:16 (including a bathroom break!). Not bad for this 45 year old. If you would have told me a year ago that I would be running 13 miles, I would have laughed. The amazing part is WE did it! Your response to Cam's Run was awesome and it wouldn't have been successful without each of you.

Update 4: October 18

I ran 11 miles this morning in the cold and dark. Luckily, Michelle and Katie ran with me so we kept each other going. It's been a great challenge, but running in the dark is not fun. As you can see, I'm at about 1/3 of my goal and I'm only 13 days away from the race. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who have donated and passed along the email. Please keep it up - you have made and can make a difference!

Update 3: October 4

Well, this morning I ran 11 miles in about 2 hours. I can't believe I ran that far or that long. I've been blessed with meeting Michelle who's also training for the 1/2 marathon, so it's been great running with her and her friends. Our family is in awe of everyone's generosity, words of support, and prayers. Please keep the email going - the race is only 4 weeks away!

Update 2: September 21

I ran 9 miles over the weekend (thank you Michelle!). I was a little tired near the end, but I was just so excited that I was able to run that far. All of your comments and support mean so much to me and Cam's family. We've almost reached 20% of my goal. Please keep those donations coming for Progeria Research!

Update 1: September 7

Hey Everyone! In case you're wondering if I'm really serious, I did start training this summer. I'm following a beginner's half-marathon schedule that was recommended to me. I ran 8 miles for my long run this week - yeah! I went slowly, but I felt fine when I was done. This is truly mind over body and I'm really getting excited. Thanks so much for your support for Cam and the Progeria Research Foundation.
